Introducing the Shimena Weaving Center

We’re proud to announce the launch of the Shimena Weaving Center at African Mosaique,
made possible with the support of Ignite Culture by HEVA Fund, in partnership with the
EU and ACP Group.
The center is dedicated to preserving and sustaining Ethiopia’s rich heritage of traditional
weaving. By honoring the vital role of weavers within the community, we aim to create
meaningful connections between artisans and other creatives—including fashion designers.
Through hands-on training, mentorship, and an environment that fosters innovation, the
Shimena Center encourages the development of fresh designs while maintaining the integrity
of this centuries-old craft.
